UniFi Deployments

We design, install, and configure complete UniFi ecosystems — networking, surveillance cameras, and access control — as a single, integrated system. Not a router swap. Not a plug-and-play kit. A professionally built infrastructure stack, cabled and commissioned by a licensed C-7 low-voltage contractor.

One ecosystem. One app. Everything managed together.

Single Dashboard

Network, cameras, and door access all managed from one interface. One login, one app, one place to check everything.

No Monthly Fees

Video records locally on your own recorder. No cloud subscriptions, no per-camera fees. You buy the system once and own it outright.

Scales With You

The same platform works in a 3-bedroom house and a 50,000 sq ft facility. Add devices as you grow — same controller, same app.

Professional-Grade Hardware

PoE-powered devices, centrally managed, with enterprise features — without enterprise pricing. Not consumer gear from a big-box store.

Three product lines. One integrated system.

UniFi Network

Cloud Gateway, Dream Machine Pro, enterprise switches, and Wi-Fi 7 access points. Structured cabling to every device.

What you get: VLANs configured, guest networks isolated, intrusion prevention enabled, Wi-Fi coverage mapped and verified. Multi-site management for commercial deployments.

UniFi Protect

G6 line cameras — bullet, turret, dome, and 360 — with a dedicated network video recorder. 4K resolution and on-device AI detection.

What you get: 24/7 local recording with no monthly fees. Person, vehicle, and license-plate detection. Remote viewing from anywhere. All footage stays on your property.

UniFi Access

Door readers, access hubs, NFC cards, and mobile unlock. Smart locks and visitor access integrated with your network.

What you get: Credential management for every door. NFC, PIN, and mobile unlock. Two-way intercom at entry points. A full audit trail of who entered where and when.

You own the system. No recurring license fees.

No vendor lock-in

Many traditional camera and network platforms charge ongoing per-device or per-seat licensing that adds up year after year. UniFi runs without mandatory licenses — once it’s installed, it’s yours to run.

Cloud convenience, local control

Manage everything remotely from your phone, while the system keeps running locally even if the internet drops. Your footage and data stay on-site, on hardware you control.

From site survey to handoff — four steps.

01 — Ecosystem Design

On-site survey, floor-plan documentation, equipment selection, and system design. We map every cable run, access-point placement, and camera angle before anything ships.

02 — Preparation

Cable pathway planning, conduit routing, and mounting-point identification. Equipment is ordered, tested, and firmware-updated before we arrive on site.

03 — Installation & Provisioning

Structured cable runs, equipment mounting, patch-panel termination, controller setup, device adoption, VLAN configuration, and camera positioning. Every device is adopted, named, and configured — not just plugged in.

04 — Validation & Handoff

Network speed and coverage testing, camera and recording verification, access entry/exit testing, a full walkthrough, and documentation handoff. You get credentials, a network map, and a system that works on day one.

Why a Licensed Contractor

UniFi hardware is excellent. But hardware in a box doesn’t protect your property or connect your devices. The physical installation — running cable through walls, ceilings, attics, and conduit — is where the real work happens. And in California, that work is regulated.

The Law

In California, running low-voltage cable through walls, ceilings, and conduit requires a C-7 Low-Voltage Contractor license issued by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB).

Most IT companies and independent tech consultants are not licensed to do physical cable installation. They can configure the software — they cannot legally run the wire.

Black Owls Network Communications holds CSLB License #1141654. We are insured and permitted to do the physical infrastructure work that makes UniFi systems actually work.

What That Means For You

Licensed infrastructure work. Every cable run, conduit path, and mount is done by a state-licensed contractor — not an IT consultant doing side work.

Warranty-backed workmanship. If something is wrong with the install, we come back and fix it — six months on workmanship, manufacturer warranty on all equipment.

Insurance and liability coverage. If something goes wrong on your property during installation, you are protected.

Clear division of labor. Your IT person manages the controller. We build what the controller manages.

Residential and commercial. Same ecosystem, different scale.

Residential

Whole-home UniFi networks with Wi-Fi coverage in every room. Camera systems covering the driveway, front door, backyard, and garage. Smart access for your front door, side gate, or garage entry. One app on your phone to manage all of it — network, cameras, locks.

Commercial

Multi-site management from a single dashboard. Scalable deployments from a single office to a multi-building campus. Centralized views of network health, camera feeds, and door-access logs. Structured cabling to support PoE devices across the facility, with access control on every door that needs it.
